Ford Hires NHTSA Veteran, Hopes To Get Rid of Recalls and Fines
Ford has appointed former NHTSA director David Hines as its new Chief Auto Safety Officer to oversee global product compliance and safety strategy. The move aims to navigate intensified federal oversight following a $165 million penalty and a multi-year record of leading the industry in recall volume.
Ford has decided that the most efficient way to manage federal oversight is to put the regulator on the payroll.
