Ford recalls 116,000 vehicles over engine block heater fire risk
Safety regulators warned that engine block heaters in certain 2.0-liter Ford and Lincoln vehicles could crack and short circuit when plugged in, resulting in 12 reported fires. Ford will notify owners in February with interim guidelines while a newly redesigned heating unit is readied for replacement by April.
At this point, plugging in your Ford is essentially a high-stakes game of thermal roulette.
